Start the New Year, the new decade, and your young horses off right! The Markel/USEF Young Horse Dressage Program encourages the properly structured development of young dressage prospects through the dressage training scale. Don’t think that this workshop is only for young horses tho. The knowledge learned will benefit horses of all ages and stages of dressage training. The program is aimed at breeders, riders, and trainers of dressage horses.

Austin Dressage Unlimited’s Inaugural Celebration

A party with multiple tables of delicious appetizers, a wine tasting table with over 30 different varieties, a Pappasito’s catered dinner, dancing to the great live “DeWayne Davis Band,“ and all for FREE to the over 150 attendees! You can’t beat that! But Austin Dressage Unlimited did beat that. They also offered door prizes, a raffle, and over $5000 worth of silent auction items to bid on. And there is even more. With the help of licensed auctioneer, Joe Frerich, there was a barn-slave auction of Young Rider, Jill Cowie, who was auctioned off to the highest bidder as a working “groom” for a weekend at a USDF dressage show. All of these festivities took place under the covered arena at the beautiful White Fences Equestrian Center near Manor, TX, owned by Barbie Piccinni. Endless tables were decorated with lovely tablecloths, vases with beautiful fall arrangements, and extensive other festive decorations and smiling faces throughout the arena and barn.

And what was the purpose of all of this? It was the inaugural celebration of the newly created dressage organization, Austin Dressage Unlimited (ADU). ADU is a chapter of the Alamo Dressage Association, which is a charter group organization of the United States Dressage Federation (USDF), and is also recognized by the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF). But this is not just another typical dressage club. ADU is a very uniquely organized chapter that, as far as anyone knows, has never been done before in the United States.

So, what is so unique about ADU? A good place to begin is with their mission statement:

“To promote education in the dressage community while encouraging advancement towards goals through a mutual support among friends.”
